Dwyer's Steel & Aluminum Cabinets - Areas that are prone to corrosive air quality, drastic climate changes or high moisture content may be considered volatile environments. Our cabinets are inhospitable to termites, mold or dryrot. Cellulose products such as wood are prone to unrepairable damage from mold, dry rot or termites in harsh climates.
Mold - Mold flourishes in hot and humid climates. Cabinets with plywood construction create the perfect environment mold to grow.
Dry Rot - Surprisingly, dry rot is found in high moisture areas. The dry rot fungus has the unusual ability to transport water from wet areas to dry areas allowing the fungus to grow in relatively dry wood. If not stopped the dry rot fungus will weaken wood so that is may eventually disintegrate.
Termites - Plywood casework provides an excellent food source for termines. Food Service Areas are not able to be treated with the necessary chemicals, which is why you see stainless steel in many professional kitchens.
